About Us
The Austin Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) is a local expression of a world-wide movement that seeks spiritual redemption and social rehabilitation of those it serves. We function as a fundraising group with a sincere desire to help those less fortunate. The ladies of the Auxiliary have a good time, work hard, and live by the mission of “Doing the Most Good”.
Our Mission
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) is a volunteer educational and fundraising arm of The Salvation Army Greater Austin Area Command. The SAWA sponsors initiatives that enrich the lives of citizens in Travis and Williamson counties by meeting them at their point of need.
A Message from the President
The Charter for the Austin Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, also known as SAWA was given with the Mission of “Dedicated Women serving others by providing hope and help in the heart of Texas”. Since it's founding in 2019, SAWA has been a crucial and fun extension of the Rathgeber Family Shelter, as well as, a local sensation with our Annual Spring Event, "A Garden Party of Tablescapes and Spring Style Show."
Lead by the spirit, our members "serve wholeheartedly”, as if you were serving the Lord, not people. (Ephesians 6:7) These members work together through our various committees to serve the families at the Rathgeber Shelter with projects such as Angel Tree, Trunk or Treat, Easter baskets, and end of school parties.
Like Paul, we invite you to “serve wholeheartedly" with us. There are many ways you can engage with SAWA including dropping off flowers weekly that spark joy, decorating cookies with the children at Rathgeber, or joining our spring event committee.
We welcome any gift of time or treasure you are able to give this season. When we are able to serve together as an Auxiliary it is not only rewarding for the residents at Rathgeber but for each other.

Members of The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary volunteer their time and resources to support programs and services of The Salvation Army of Austin at shelters, fundraisers, Angel Tree and more.
Events
Participate in various fundraising events such as the Spring Style Show Luncheon to raise money for The Salvation Army of Austin programs.
